Catherine Haga, PhD
Postdoctoral Fellow
Catherine is a postdoctoral fellow in the Juarez Lab, where she uses electrophysiological and viral approaches to map neural circuits involved in opioid use. She earned her bachelor’s degrees in Biological Sciences and Psychology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and completed her PhD at the University of Maryland, Baltimore in the lab of Dr. Asaf Keller. Her graduate research focused on how early nicotine exposure affects inhibitory neurons in the sensory cortex during development.
Outside the lab, Catherine enjoys spending time with her family (especially outdoors), doing therapy visits with her German Shepherd Piper, cooking, baking, and playing video games. Her favorite animal is an owl but she will be forever disappointed that it’s frowned upon to have one as a pet.
